Good Golly Tamale debuted at the Market Square Farmers’ Market in September 2013. We began selling individually wrapped tamales from a hot box on the back of an ochre colored tricycle. In October 2015 we opened a storefront on Central Ave in the Old City.
Our mission is to serve traditional comfort food that is not only fast and delicious, but also nutritious! We use organic non-GMO corn masa, locally sourced free-range meats, and locally farmed produce when available.
We also believe in using high-quality fat and plenty of it! Our tamales are made with Spectrum brand organic palm shortening. The meaty ones have a little Benton’s bacon fat and we sometimes make our own leaf lard when local sources allow.
