Cookie Policy
Last updated October 2026
A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. MyTownIsHere uses a few first-party cookies.
First-party means the cookie is set by this site, not by an ad network. Analytics cookies are set only after you allow Analytics.
The consent tool is iQ Cookie, the banner that stores this choice.
Until you choose Accept All, Necessary Only, or Save My Preferences, a light cover sits over the page. You can still scroll and read. Links and buttons outside the banner do not respond.
The Cookie Policy link in the banner still works. Closing the settings panel, or pressing Escape, does not count as a choice.
After a choice is stored, the cover stays down. Opening Cookie settings later does not bring it back.
Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Party |
|---|---|---|---|
mtih_session | Keeps you signed in. The value is a random session id. The account it points to is stored in Cloudflare D1. The cookie is HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax, so page scripts cannot read it. It is set only after a sign-in. | 30 days (Max-Age 2592000 seconds) | First party |
iq_consent | Remembers that you made a choice in the cookie banner. The value is 1. | 180 days | First party |
iq_cc | Stores which cookie categories you allowed. Necessary is always on. Analytics and marketing are stored only if you turn them on. | 180 days | First party |
iq_consent and iq_cc are Secure and SameSite=Lax.
Google sign-in, later
Google sign-in is not live. When it is, we will add the cookies that sign-in needs, including a short-lived first-party cookie named mtih_oauth_state (about 10 minutes) used only while the sign-in redirect is in progress.
Google may also set cookies on Google's own site during that step. This page will be updated when that goes live.
Maps
A business page can show a Google Maps embed. It uses the free Maps Embed. It does not call a paid Places or Geocoding API.
The map frame does not load until you allow marketing cookies, or until you press Show map on that page. Show map loads that one map. It does not change the choice stored in iq_consent.
When the frame loads, Google may set cookies. Google's privacy policy applies inside it. We do not copy that map, a Google rating, or Google reviews into our score or database.
Get directions is a link that opens Google Maps in a new page. It works before the embed loads.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we store only the necessary category. Choosing Accept All does not turn on analytics or marketing while that signal is on.
Change your choice
Use in the footer, or the same control on this page. It reopens the banner so you can allow or refuse analytics and marketing. Necessary cookies stay on, because the site needs them to keep an account signed in and to remember this choice.
You can also delete cookies in your browser. If you delete iq_consent, the banner shows again on your next visit.
Google Analytics
If you allow Analytics, the site loads Google Tag Manager, container GTM-NMDC5BW4, which runs Google Analytics. Necessary Only does not load it. Global Privacy Control does not load it.
Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_*. Google's cookie documentation says the default lifetime of those cookies is two years. Google's privacy policy applies to that measurement.
The script is not on the page until you allow Analytics. If you turn Analytics off later, we tell Google the consent is denied. Reload the page to unload the script that already ran.
Preview addresses that end in pages.dev do not load Google Tag Manager, so test visits are not measured.
