Food & Drink in Franklin, TN

What to look for in a restaurant

• The restaurant's own site or official page, and whether it names this town and a street address.
• A cuisine only when the restaurant states it. If the listing has no cuisine, we did not have one to repeat.
• A permit from the Tennessee Department of Health. The Environmental Health Program says it permits and inspects food service establishments and enforces the Tennessee Food Safety law. The same page names five contract counties that handle food inspections themselves: Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, and Shelby.
• Williamson County (Franklin and Brentwood) and Montgomery County (Clarksville) are not on that contract-county list. The page says to call the local health department for the county.
• Neighbors score a visit from 1 to 10 on MyTownIsHere. A new listing says so, instead of showing a zero.

Food service establishments are permitted and inspected by the Tennessee Department of Health. Details are on the Environmental Health page. That page's contract counties are Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, and Shelby. Franklin, Brentwood, and Clarksville are not in those counties.
